Quests

Optional objectives handed out by a handful of NPCs. Complete them for permanent unlocks, rare gear, and repeatable rewards, all tracked live in the /quests menu.

How Quests Work #

A few NPCs across the world offer quests. Walk up to one, hear them out, and accept the task; each quest is a short checklist of objectives (mine this ore, kill those mobs, hand over some Pure Diamonds) that fills in as you play. Open /quests at any time to see your active quests with live progress bars, then return to the NPC to turn a finished quest in and claim the reward.

Accept
Talk to the NPC and pick Accept Quest. You can only have one main quest per NPC at a time.
Track
/quests lists every active quest and its objectives, each with a progress bar.
Turn in
Once every objective is complete, talk to the NPC again and choose Turn In Quest to collect the reward.
📝
Some objectives ask you to obtain a resource or item to give to the NPC (like Pure Diamonds or Undead Cores). Those are spent on turn-in, so make sure you're holding enough before you hand the quest over.

Quest Givers #

Three NPCs give quests, each in a different area. See the NPC directory for where to find them.

Scientist: Introductory Research #

The Scientist tinkers away on a half-built Time Machine on Scientist Island (unlocked at The Stone Age). He has a single quest, Introductory Research, and it's one of the most valuable in the game: completing it powers up his machine and unlocks Time Leap automation, so you no longer have to press the button by hand.

Objective
Generate Ticks 400 times
Generate Moments 400 times
Obtain 1B Chrono Dust to hand over
Obtain 1,000 Flesh to hand over
Obtain an Undead Core (drops from Undead Miners)
💡
Once the machine is built you can toggle auto Time Leap right in the Time Leap menu, and revisit the Scientist to fine-tune your automation settings.

The Collector: Diamond Mine #

The Collector deals in rare artifacts deep in the Diamond Mine. He won't sell to just anyone, and his quests both prove your worth and steadily expand what you can carry. Along the way he hands out the Collector's Cloak relic (a Move Speed relic that trades away some Defense ๐Ÿ”ฐ).

Proving Your Worth Hand over 1 Pure Diamond & mine 250 Diamond Fragments Unlocks the Collector's Shop
The Collector's Prize Hand over 10 Pure Diamonds & kill 25 Cave Crawlers A Collector's Cloak
Restocking the Shop 10 Undead Cores, 100 Pure Diamonds, 200 Cave Crawlers & 250 Diamond Blocks +10 Artifact storage slots & a second Collector's Cloak
Room for More 50 Undead Cores, 5,000 Pure Diamonds & 500 Compressed Diamond Blocks +1 Active Artifact slot
💎
More Artifact storage and an extra Active slot are a big deal. Artifacts only boost you while they're in an Active slot, so the Collector's later quests let you run more of them at once.

Genesis Captive: Repeatable Quests #

Hidden away in the Genesis Caves, the Genesis Captive is exclusive to players who have chosen the Genesis alignment. Instead of a fixed storyline, the Captive offers a pool of 14 randomized quests. You won't know which one you'll get until you accept, and the objective targets are rolled fresh each time. Every quest rewards 1 Genesis Token, and you can keep coming back for more.

The quests span three difficulty tiers, from quick hauls to a fight with the Mutant Cave Crawler boss:

Easy
Mine ores or Diamond Fragments, clear a few Cave Crawlers or Undead Miners, or generate Ticks / Moments.
Medium
Bigger ore and mob hauls, offerings of Pure Diamonds or Undead Cores, and hunts for Gemstone Guardians and Prism Archers.
Hard
Heavy Pure Diamond demands, large kill counts, and the Genesis Trial, which asks you to take down the Mutant Cave Crawler.
📜
"Genesis. It let me down, but it won't let me back up. Not 'til I've earned it. Earning it means you."

Genesis Tokens fuel Genesis-only upgrades. See the Genesis alignment page for what they buy.

Quests & Resets #

Quests are progression, so they don't get wiped by the ordinary loop. Your completed-quest history, the Collector's expanded storage, and the Scientist's automation all stick around through a Seconds, Chrono Dust, or Time Leap reset, and through Era tier-ups.

The exception is switching alignment. Choosing or changing an Alignment triggers a full Era reset, which also resets your quests. And remember the Genesis Captive only appears while you're Genesis-aligned, so realign elsewhere and those quests are gone.

Your items are always safe. Any gear, relics, artifacts, or tokens a quest gave you are never lost to a reset.
