⏳ Genesis Alignment

Genesis Alignment

The origin-and-foundation alignment: the early-game specialist that supercharges Ticks, Moments, and Seconds, opens the Genesis Caves, and grants a token-fueled upgrade tree.

Overview #

📜“Those who walk the Genesis alignment accelerate the core flow of time itself, amplifying Ticks, Moments, and Seconds to fuel their earliest progression. Every timeline begins with a single tick.”

Genesis is one of the four Era Alignments you can pledge to at the Era Chamber. It's the path of origin and foundation: where the other three alignments push mid- and late-game systems, Genesis doubles down on the resources you generate from the very first click. Its rolled boosts amplify Ticks, Moments, Seconds, and the XP that build your Temporal Power, the fastest way to power up every reset in the game.

Origin & foundation: the early-game specialist.
Unlocks at
The Stone Age (Era II). It's the only alignment available at the Stone Age, since Ascension, Tectonic, and Carnage all require the Bronze Age.
Boosts
Ticks, Moments, Seconds, and XP.
Passives
Temporal Amplifier and Clockworker.
Signature area
The Genesis Caves, a private area only Genesis players can enter.
You hold only one alignment at a time. To pledge to Genesis (or later switch away from it), talk to the Genesis timelord in the Era Chamber. See Alignments for how choosing one works, and read the reset warning below before you commit.

Boosts & Passives #

Your Genesis boosts are randomly rolled the moment you align, and their strength scales with your Potential (0–10). A higher Potential means bigger multipliers, stronger exponents, and better odds on the passives. Every Genesis player gets:

🌌 Genesis Caves

Guaranteed access to the Genesis Caves, a private area only Genesis players can enter, home to the Genesis Captive and the Genesis upgrade tree.

Resource multipliers

A rolled × multiplier to your Ticks, Moments, or Seconds Fortune, commonly landing between ×2 and a Potential-scaled ceiling.

🔮 Exponential rolls

One or more exponents on your Ticks, Moments, Seconds, or XP, the strongest boost type in the game, since it scales with everything else.

Passives

A chance to roll Temporal Amplifier (XP generate faster per Era tier) and Clockworker (generating Ticks or Moments generates both).

The number of rolled boosts grows with your Era tier, so re-aligning at a higher Era (or with a higher Potential) yields a stronger loadout.

💡
Genesis is the fastest ramp to your next Time Leap: more Seconds means far more XP, which means faster Temporal Power. If leaps feel out of reach, Genesis is the alignment built to fix that.

Genesis Caves & the Captive #

Aligning to Genesis opens the Genesis Caves, a private area reserved for Genesis players. Deep inside you'll meet the Genesis Captive, a trapped soul who chased Genesis too far and now hands out work to anyone who finds them.

  • The Captive offers a pool of randomized quests. The specific quest is hidden until you accept, so you can take the offer again and again without cherry-picking.
  • Quests range from easy hauls (mine Iron ore, cull Cave Crawlers) up to hard trials (surrender Pure Diamonds, slay the Mutant Cave Crawler).
  • Each completed quest rewards 1 Genesis Token, the currency for the upgrade tree below.

Genesis Tokens & Upgrades #

Genesis Tokens earned from the Captive are spent on 12 permanent upgrade blocks hidden throughout the Genesis Caves. Each is a one-time purchase: buy it once and its boost is yours for good. They start small and climb to game-defining exponents on your Origin resources.

UpgradeToken CostBoost
Chrono Dust Upgrade1Chrono Dust ×10
Tick Flow1Ticks ×50
Moment Surge1Moments ×50
Second Stream2Seconds ×30
Temporal Reservoir2+10% XP generation speed
Eternal Wellspring3XP ×125

Temporal Cascade6Seconds & XP ×5
Temporal Acceleration8XP ^1.03
Primordial Tick10Ticks ^1.03
Primordial Moment13Moments ^1.03

Those exponents at the top of the tree apply to Ticks, Moments, Seconds, Chrono Dust, and XP, which is why Genesis stays relevant long after the early game, feeding straight into your Time Leaps.

Potential #

Every alignment measures your Potential differently, and it decides how strong your rolled boosts come out. Genesis reads how deep your Origin progression runs, scoring you across two tracks:

Total Ticks
How many Ticks you've banked this cycle. This resets with a Time Leap, but it rebuilds in seconds, so it's easy to top up right before you align.
Lifetime Seconds resets
How many times you've hit the Seconds reset button in total, a permanent counter that only ever climbs.

Each threshold you pass on either track grants +1 Potential. Higher Potential widens every multiplier's range, steepens the exponents, and raises the odds of rolling the Temporal Amplifier passive.

💡
Before you pledge, farm a big Ticks balance and rack up Seconds resets. Both feed your Genesis Potential directly, and a stronger roll lasts until you next re-align.

Aligning & Resets #

Pledging to Genesis at the Era Chamber rolls your boosts and grants access to the Caves. But choosing (or later changing) an alignment is tied to a full Era reset, so know what it costs.

Picking or switching an alignment triggers a full Era reset: your resources, pre-Era unlocks, and your current Time Leap tier are wiped. Your best-ever Time Leap tier is preserved, so all your gear stays usable, and your items are never lost: pickaxes, swords, armor, relics, artifacts, accessories, charms, runes, and potions all survive every reset.

Genesis Tokens and the upgrades you've bought with them are permanent to your Genesis progression, but because they live in the Genesis Caves, they're only active while you're Genesis-aligned. If you're weighing Genesis against the others, compare their unlocks on the Alignments overview:

  • Ascension: Intelligence, Strength, and Seconds; the Arcane Trials shop and the Ascension Feather.
  • Tectonic: ore yields and Mining Speed; automated Drills and the Deep Breaker.
  • Carnage: Damage, Defense, Flesh, and Loot Luck; the Volcano and the Carnage Cleaver.
