⏳ Temporal Power & XP

Temporal Power & XP

The passive gauge that measures your mastery of time. XP pours in every second and is spent into Temporal Power, the number that decides which Time Leap tier you can reach.

Overview #

XP generates automatically, roughly once a second, with no clicking required. The moment you have enough banked, it is immediately spent to buy the next point of Temporal Power. Temporal Power is a passive gauge: it is the running total of how far you've progressed, and it's the single stat that Time Leaping reads to decide your tier.

Temporal Power is a gauge, not a reset. Building it never wipes anything. It only unlocks your next Time Leap. The actual reset happens when you choose to Time Leap.

You'll watch your progress in two places: your XP bar (your level is your current Temporal Power, the bar fills toward the next point) and the giant honey jar in The Origin, which visibly rises as you climb.

XP #

XP is the raw material for Temporal Power. It ticks in on its own about once per second, and how much you earn per tick is scaled off almost everything you own: your Ticks, Moments, your ores, and, most heavily of all, your Seconds.

💡
More Seconds means far more XP, which means faster Temporal Power. If your next Time Leap feels out of reach, the fastest fix is almost always to go farm Seconds.

A few things speed up how often XP is collected, on top of how much you get each time:

Base rate
One collection every 1 second.
Temporal Amplifier passive
Collects faster the higher your Era tier. Each Era tier shaves 0.1s off the interval. Rolled by the Genesis alignment.
Genesis "Temporal Reservoir" upgrade
A Genesis upgrade block that speeds XP generation by +10%.

Between these the interval can drop as low as 0.1s (ten collections a second), a tenfold speed-up over the base rate.

Temporal Power #

Every point of Temporal Power costs more XP than the last. The cost grows exponentially, so early points come in a flood and later ones take real investment.

Cost per point
The next point costs 5(power + 1) XP.
With the Temporal Flux upgrade
The base drops from 5 to 4.75, so each point costs 4.75(power + 1), a meaningful discount as the exponent climbs. Temporal Flux is bought on the Pure Diamond Upgrade Tree.

XP is spent the instant you can afford the next point, so you rarely see a large XP stockpile. It converts straight into Temporal Power. That conversion is what fills your XP bar and the honey jar in The Origin.

Gating your Time Leap #

Temporal Power's whole purpose is to gate the Time Leap. Each of the 36 Time Leap tiers, from Novice up to Timelord, requires a minimum Temporal Power. You cannot leap to a tier until your Temporal Power meets its threshold.

See the Time Leap page for the full 36-tier table and the per-tier resource multipliers each leap grants.

Temporal Power also feeds a Time Leap boost of its own: your best XP gain gets a ×1.5 multiplier for every Time Leap tier you hold above Explorer, so climbing tiers makes future XP, and thus future Temporal Power, snowball.

What happens on a reset #

Temporal Power and XP never reset anything themselves. They are only ever cleared when you actually perform the reset they gate:

  • A Time Leap wipes your XP and Temporal Power back to zero (alongside Ticks, Moments, Seconds, and their upgrades, plus Chrono Dust unless you have the Chrono Dust Keeper passive). In exchange every resource gains a permanent multiplier, and your Temporal Power immediately begins building again, faster than before.
  • The lower resets, buying Seconds or Chrono Dust, do not touch your Temporal Power. In fact they help it: more Seconds means more XP.
🔒
Your items are never lost to any reset. Pickaxes, swords, armor, relics, artifacts, accessories, charms, runes, and potions all survive Time Leaps and every other reset. And your best-ever Time Leap tier only ever ratchets up, so your gear stays usable even after an Era reset lowers your current tier.

Tips #

  • Stuck on your next Time Leap? Farm Seconds. They boost XP harder than anything else, and XP is your only path to more Temporal Power.
  • Grab Temporal Flux early. Lowering the cost base from 5 to 4.75 compounds hard as the exponent grows. It's one of the better Pure Diamond Upgrade Tree picks for pushing tiers.
  • Genesis accelerates XP. If you're leaning into the early game, the Genesis alignment's Temporal Amplifier passive and Temporal Reservoir upgrade both speed up how fast XP comes in.
  • Type /timeleap to open the Time Leap menu and see exactly how much Temporal Power your next tier needs. For a full walkthrough of any system, /guide opens this wiki in your browser.
