🌌 Moments

Moments

The second currency you generate, bought with Ticks and spent on your earliest upgrades. Moments is a currency you generate, not a reset.

Overview #

Moments are the second resource you unlock in The Origin, right after Ticks. Each press of the golden Moments button spends 5 Ticks and banks your Moments Fortune in return. Because you buy Moments rather than reset for them, growing Moments never wipes anything. It simply costs Ticks.

Moments are the fuel for your first real power spikes: the three golden Moments upgrades, and eventually the price of your first Chrono Dust and beyond.

Moments is not a reset. The first reset in the ladder is Seconds, which wipes your Ticks and Moments in exchange for a permanent multiplier. See the Progression overview for the full ladder.

The Moments Button #

Stand on the golden Moments button in The Origin and it fires automatically about once per second, spending 5 Ticks and paying out your Moments Fortune each time. If you can't afford the 5 Ticks, the press simply doesn't go through.

Cost per press
5 Ticks.
Payout
Your full Moments Fortune, every boost in the game that feeds Moments.
VIP bonus

Rare drop
Every press has a 1 in 2,000,000 chance to drop the Golden Bell artifact (×1.05–5 Moments).
💡
The spinning analog clock beside the button visualizes your clicking speed. It's purely cosmetic, but its hands speed up as you level Moments Upgrade 2, giving you a quick read on how fast you're generating.

Moments Fortune #

Your Moments Fortune is how much you gain per press. It starts small and compounds through every boost source in the game. The two boosts unique to Moments early on:

  • Bronze raises your Moments Fortune once you reach the Bronze Mine. More Bronze means more Moments.
  • Higher Seconds and Chrono Dust multiply Moments heavily as you climb the reset ladder, and every Time Leap tier adds a permanent ×2 to the base.

On top of those, universal boosts (artifacts, accessories, Eras, alignments, and potions) all feed Moments too.

The Moments Upgrades #

Three golden, punchable upgrade blocks sit beside the Moments button. Each is bought by spending Moments, and together they form your very first upgrade loop.

UpgradeEffect per levelMax level
Moments Upgrade 1 ×2 Ticks Fortune per level. 200
Moments Upgrade 2 Speeds up the Moments & Ticks buttons, firing them 150 ms faster (from 1 press/sec down to one every 0.4 s at max). 4
Moments Upgrade 3 ×2 Moments Fortune per level. 200

Moments Upgrade 1 pumps your Ticks, which in turn buys more Moments; Moments Upgrade 3 pumps Moments directly; and Moments Upgrade 2 makes both buttons fire faster. Level all three and the loop starts snowballing. The Pure Diamond Upgrade Tree's Clockwork node later raises the level caps on Upgrades 1 and 3.

The Moments upgrades are wiped when you take the Seconds reset, but that reset hands back a permanent multiplier that quickly rebuilds them stronger than before. Your items and gear are never lost to any reset.

Tips #

  • Keep Ticks flowing. Every Moments press eats 5 Ticks, so a bigger Ticks Fortune directly means more Moments.
  • Push Moments Upgrade 2 to max early. Faster buttons compound everything else you do.
  • Once you can comfortably afford it, take the Seconds reset. More Seconds means far more XP, which is what carries you toward your first Time Leap.
