Tectonic Alignment

The mining specialist among the four Era Alignments. Tectonic amplifies your ore yields and Mining Speed ⛏, unlocks automated Drills that mine even while you're away, and is the only path to the Pure Diamond–forged tools of the deep.

Overview #

📜“The path of depth and excavation. Those who walk the Tectonic alignment harness the power of the earth, mining deeper and faster to uncover riches buried beneath the surface. The deepest stones hold the oldest time.”

Tectonic is one of the four alignments you can pledge to at the Era Chamber, chosen from the Tectonic Timelord. It is built for players who live in the mines: it stacks big multipliers onto your ores and your Mining Speed ⛏, and it hands you tools no other alignment can touch: automated Drills, the Deep Breaker pickaxe, and the Tectonic Heart.

Requirement to align
Reach The Bronze Age (Era III). Alongside Ascension and Carnage, Tectonic needs the Bronze Age. Only Genesis can be taken back at the Stone Age.
Specializes in
Ore multipliers (Coal, Bronze, Iron, Diamonds) and Mining Speed ⛏.
Signature mechanic
The Fault Line passive: a chance while mining to shatter every ore in an expanding radius at once.
🔒
Pledging to an alignment (or later changing it) triggers a full Era reset of your resources, pre-Era unlocks, and current Time Leap tier. Your best-ever Time Leap tier is preserved, and none of your items are ever lost: pickaxes, armor, relics, artifacts, and everything else stay in your inventory. Choose deliberately; you hold only one alignment at a time.

Rolled Boosts #

When you align, Tectonic rolls a set of boosts whose strength scales with your Potential (0–10) and grows again with every Era tier-up. You always receive:

  • Access to the Drill Mechanic's Shop (see Drills & Tools).
  • A guaranteed Iron multiplier, from ×2 up to ×(3 + 4×Potential), so a maxed Potential can reach roughly ×43 Iron.

From the Bronze Age onward you can also roll a chance-gated Diamonds boost of +10% to +(50 + 10×Potential)%. On top of that, one or more picks are drawn from this pool (the number of draws rises with your Era tier):

BoostTypeRange
Coal Fortune Exponent ^1.01 – ^(1.02 + 0.015×Potential)
Bronze Fortune Multiplier ×3 – ×(4 + 5×Potential)
Mining Speed ⛏ Percent +(10 + 5×Potential)% – +(25 + 5×Potential)%
Fault Line passive Passive Unlocked
💡
The exponent on Coal is quietly the most powerful roll here: an exponential boost compounds with everything else that already multiplies your ore gains, so it keeps paying off no matter how large your numbers grow.

Potential #

Every alignment measures your Potential differently. It's a 0–10 score that decides how strong your rolled boosts come out. You earn +1 Potential for each threshold you pass on two tracks, so it pays to build both up before you align.

TrackThresholds
Coal held 1e10 · 1e20 · 1e30 · 1e40 · 1e50 · 1e60
Total blocks mined 1,000 · 10,000 · 50,000 · 100,000 · 1,000,000 · 10,000,000

Your current Coal is the resettable half, so grow it high right before you align. Your lifetime blocks mined is the permanent half; it never goes down, so it's a standing floor on your Tectonic Potential. Together the two tracks cap at 10.

Drills & Signature Tools #

Aligning Tectonic opens the Drill Mechanic's Shop, where the rest of the alignment's exclusive content lives.

Place a drill on ore and it mines on its own, even while you're offline. Five tiers from Basic up to the Legendary Tectonic Titan, with up to three placed at once.

Tectonic Heart

The Legendary component for the top-tier drill. It drops only for Tectonic-aligned players, making the best automation an alignment-exclusive reward.

A Legendary pickaxe that breaks any ore and carries the Mining Surge ability. Traded on the Tectonic path for 10,000 Pure Diamonds + 1 Tectonic Heart.

The Mechanic also trades the Forge Ember for 5,000 Pure Diamonds + 1 Tectonic Heart. Drill components themselves drop from Diamond Mine mobs, so keep the mine on your rotation.

The Tectonic Heart is the gate on everything premier here. Because it drops only while you're Tectonic-aligned, switching away means you lose your source of new Hearts (though the tools you already forged stay with you forever).

Tips & When to Pick It #

  • Bank Coal before aligning. Your live Coal feeds the resettable Potential track, so overshoot the 1e10–1e60 thresholds right before you commit.
  • Mine a lot, forever. Lifetime blocks mined is permanent Potential and also drives the Fault Line passive's activation chance. The more you mine, the stronger both become.
  • Chase the Deep Breaker early. Breaking any ore plus its Mining Surge burst turns your Pure Diamond income into a snowball for the rest of your Tectonic run.
  • Pick Tectonic if mining is your engine. If your progression leans on ores and Pure Diamonds rather than combat or Intelligence, no alignment compounds that loop harder.

Not sure Tectonic fits your build? Compare it with the other three on the Alignments overview, and review how alignment choice interacts with resets on the Eras page. You can open this wiki any time in-game with /guide.
