✨ Chrono Dust

Chrono Dust

The first resource that sticks through your resets, a powerful boost currency you build by resetting your lower progression, and only ever lose to a Time Leap.

Overview #

Chrono Dust is the fourth step on the reset ladder, just above Seconds. It is a reset resource: pressing the Chrono Dust button wipes your Ticks, Moments and Seconds in exchange for permanent Chrono Dust, which then multiplies those resources back far higher than before.

What sets it apart from everything below it is persistence. Chrono Dust survives the Seconds reset and the Chrono Dust reset itself, so the "lower resets" can't touch it. It's the first real snowball resource, so early progression is largely a race to bank as much Chrono Dust as you can.

The Chrono Dust button lives in The Origin, on the light-blue panel beside the Seconds area. Stand on it and it fires automatically about once per second while you can afford it.

How to earn it #

Each press of the Chrono Dust button has a fixed cost and performs a reset:

Cost per press
10,000 Moments and 5 Seconds.
What it resets
Your Ticks, Moments and Seconds (and their upgrades).
What you gain
Your Chrono Dust Fortune, the amount grows with every boost feeding it, so overshooting the cost before pressing pays off.

Because a single press wipes your lower resources, the loop is to grow Moments and Seconds as high as you comfortably can, cash them in for a fat Chrono Dust payout, and let the new multipliers rebuild everything faster.

💡
Early on, focus on farming Seconds before each Chrono Dust reset, since they multiply the Moments you need for the cost and give you a comfortable buffer to overshoot with.

What it boosts #

Chrono Dust applies a multiplicative boost to a growing list of resources. Each boost scales as roughly your total Chrono Dust raised to a power, so it never stops mattering. The more you hold, the harder every one of these ramps.

Ticks1^0.75
Moments10^0.75
Seconds1,000^0.5

The Ticks and Moments boosts are live from the very start; the Seconds boost joins once you cross 1,000 Chrono Dust.

The Coal, Bronze and Iron boosts require the Chrono Dust Infusion node from the Pure Diamond Upgrade Tree before they activate.

Surviving resets #

Chrono Dust is the first resource that persists. It is not wiped by the Seconds reset or by pressing the Chrono Dust button again, since both of those "lower resets" leave your stockpile intact. The only thing that clears it is a Time Leap.

  • Kept through the Seconds reset.
  • Kept through the Chrono Dust reset itself.
  • Wiped by a Time Leap, unless you have the Chrono Dust Keeper passive, which lets it survive even that.
🔒
Resets never take your items. Pickaxes, swords, armor, relics, artifacts, accessories, charms, runes and potions are always kept. No reset on this ladder, Time Leap included, ever removes your gear.

📜“The dust of spent time settles where nothing else can reach it. Even a wiped timeline leaves it behind.”

Tips & related pages #

  • Overshoot before resetting. Because your Chrono Dust payout scales with how much you hold above the cost, it pays to bank extra Moments and Seconds before each press.
  • Unlock the ore boosts. Grabbing Chrono Dust Infusion from the upgrade tree turns Chrono Dust into an ore engine as well.
  • Chase Chrono Dust Keeper. The Ascension alignment can roll the Chrono Dust Keeper passive, letting your dust ride through every Time Leap.
Comes from
Seconds & Moments (spent to press).
Feeds into
The multipliers above, and indirectly your Temporal Power climb.
Lost only to
Time Leap.
