Overview #
Automation is a system built around the Scientist and his Time Machine, tucked away on Scientist Island in The Origin. Once you help him get the machine running, it can carry out progression steps on your behalf, starting with automatic Time Leaps.
Reaching Scientist Island requires the Stone Age (Era II). From there, a single quest unlocks the machine, and you tune what it does from the machine's own menu.
Meeting the Scientist #
The Scientist lives on Scientist Island, a small area high above The Origin. You can travel there once you've reached the Stone Age. Before that, the way in is gated off. Reaching the Diamond Mine also grants access.
He can't leave the island himself (he never had the power to explore that you do), so he needs your help gathering the parts to finish his machine. Talk to him to pick up his research quest, then come back once you've collected everything.
/era, or reach the Diamond Mine. Either one opens the way up.Introductory Research Quest #
Introductory Research is the quest that finishes the Time Machine. Complete every goal below, then turn it in to the Scientist:
| Goal | Amount | How |
|---|---|---|
| Generate Ticks | 400× | Press any Ticks button 400 times. |
| Generate Moments | 400× | Press any Moments button 400 times. |
| Hand over Chrono Dust | 1B | Hold at least 1 billion Chrono Dust. |
| Hand over Flesh | 1,000 | Hold at least 1,000 Flesh. |
| Give an Undead Core | 1 | Drops from undead mobs. Farm the Undead Miner in the Iron Mine. |
On turn-in, the Scientist consumes the Chrono Dust, Flesh, and the Undead Core, slots them into the machine, and switches it on. The reward is the Time Machine itself: access to the Automation menu and your first automation.
Time Leap Automation #
The machine's first ability is Time Leap Automation. With it enabled, the game watches your Temporal Power and performs a Time Leap for you the moment you meet the next tier's requirement. You never have to press the button yourself.
- It checks automatically about every 2 seconds, so a qualifying leap happens almost the instant you're eligible.
- Each auto-leap flashes an Auto Time Leap ↑ title and plays the usual level-up chime.
- It only ever leaps when you genuinely qualify, so it can't skip a tier or leap early.
A Time Leap is still the same major reset when the machine performs it: it wipes your Ticks, Moments, Seconds, XP and Temporal Power (and Chrono Dust, unless you have the Chrono Dust Keeper passive) in exchange for permanent multipliers on every resource.
Customizing the Machine #
Once the quest is done, talk to the Scientist again and choose Customize the Machine to open the Automation menu. Every automation the machine can perform is listed there as a toggle.
