Overview #
Every pickaxe does two jobs. First, it provides Mining Speed ⛏, the total block damage it deals each second, which sets how fast ore shatters. Second, it caps which ores it can break: a Coal Pickaxe stops at coal, an Iron Pickaxe reaches iron, and so on up the ore ladder.
Like all boostable gear, a pickaxe rolls its exact Mining Speed once when it's created and keeps it forever, so two of the same tier can differ slightly. Every pickaxe also carries a Time Leap requirement checked against your best-ever tier. Once you've reached that tier the pickaxe works forever, even after an Era reset lowers your current tier.
The Progression Chain #
Standard pickaxes form one ordered upgrade line, bought from the shop in each mining area. Buying a tier consumes the one directly before it and carries over any applied relic, so upgrading never wastes your work. The line runs Wooden → Coal (I–V) → Bronze (I–VI) → Iron (I–VI) → Diamond (I–IV).
Each pickaxe also has a Time Leap gate: Wooden and Coal pickaxes need Explorer, Bronze needs Miner, Iron needs Caveman, and every Diamond pickaxe needs Diamond Breaker (which also opens the Diamond Mine area).
| Tier | Mining Speed | Breaks up to | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wooden Pickaxe | 6 ⛏ | Coal | Common |
| Coal Pickaxe (I–IV) | 10–13 ⛏ | Coal | Common |
| Coal Pickaxe (V) | 14 ⛏ | Bronze | Uncommon |
| Bronze Pickaxe (I–V) | 15–22 ⛏ | Bronze | Uncommon |
| Bronze Pickaxe (VI) | 24 ⛏ | Iron | Rare |
| Iron Pickaxe (I–VI) | 25–37 ⛏ | Iron | Rare |
| Diamond Tipped Pickaxe (I) | 30 ⛏ | Diamond | Rare |
| Diamond Plated Pickaxe (II) | 35 ⛏ | Diamond | Epic |
| Diamond Pickaxe (III) | 42.5 ⛏ | Diamond | Epic |
| Reinforced Diamond Pickaxe (IV) | 50 ⛏ | Diamond | Epic |
| Deep Breaker | 40–75 ⛏ | Any ore | Legendary |
Passives & Abilities #
The top pickaxes do more than mine fast. Starting at the Diamond Pickaxe (III), every Diamond III / IV pickaxe carries the Miner's Grace passive, a chance while mining to upgrade the block you broke into a richer ore tier.
The legendary Deep Breaker is the crown of the line: it breaks any ore, also carries Miner's Grace, and adds the Mining Surge ability. Right-click it to gain the Mining Surge effect: ×2 Mining Speed ⛏ for 30 seconds, on a 5-minute cooldown.
Boosting Mining Speed #
A pickaxe's raw Mining Speed is only the base. You can stack it far higher:
Mining is a core part of Timelords: faster ore means more Coal,
Bronze, Iron, and eventually
Diamonds to purify into Pure Diamonds. See the
Ores page for how the mining chain feeds the rest of your progression, or open
