How Armor Works #
Armor is one of your three core gear slots, alongside your pickaxe and sword, and it exists for one job: survival. A full set spreads its Defense 🟠 across all four pieces, so the more of the set you're wearing, the harder you are to kill.
Each piece rolls its exact stats once when it's created and keeps them forever, so two of the same piece can differ slightly, so it's worth chasing a good roll. Right-click a piece to equip it into its slot.
The Four Sets #
Armor upgrades in sets, each with three tiers (I, II, III). You climb Leather → Bronze → Iron → Diamond, and each set unlocks alongside the matching ore area. Buying a set in an ore shop consumes the set of the tier directly below it and carries any applied relic onto the matching new piece, so upgrading never loses your relics.
| Set | Full-Set Defense (I / II / III) | Unlocks with | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leather | 10 / 15 / 20 🟠 | Available from the start (The Origin) | Common |
| Bronze | 35 / 45 / 60 🟠 | The Bronze Mine | Uncommon |
| Iron | 100 / 150 / 250 🟠 | The Iron Mine | Rare |
| Diamond | 350 / 500 / 650 🟠 | The Diamond Mine | Epic |
Full-set Defense is the total across all four pieces of that tier. Within a set the tiers step up in rarity too: Bronze and Iron start at their base rarity and rise to Uncommon / Rare at their upper tiers, while every Diamond piece is Epic.
Boots & Move Speed #
Boots are the one armor slot that carries a Move Speed boost as well as Defense 🟠. Higher tiers pack more of both, so upgrading your boots is also the cheapest way to move around the world faster.
| Boots | Move Speed (I / II / III) | Defense (I / II / III) |
|---|---|---|
| Leather Boots | +3% / +5% / +7% | 1 / 1 / 2 🟠 |
| Bronze Boots | +10% / +12% / +14% | 3 / 4 / 6 🟠 |
| Iron Boots | +16% / +18% / +20% | 10 / 15 / 25 🟠 |
| Diamond Boots | +22% / +25% / +30% | 35 / 50 / 65 🟠 |
Armor Relics #
A relic can be applied to a piece of armor at the Relic Smith in the Iron Mine to amplify that piece's own Defense boost. Applying takes real time (the piece is locked while it works), and you can remove a relic later to recover both the piece and the relic.
| Relic | Effect | Rarity | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zombie Skin | +5–10% Defense 🟠 | Uncommon | Drops from the Undead Miner |
| Guardian Armor | +35–65% Defense 🟠, −Move Speed | Rare | Drops from the Gemstone Guardian |
| Collector's Cloak | +Move Speed, −Defense 🟠 | Rare | Reward from the Collector quest |
Guardian Armor trades away a little Move Speed for a huge Defense gain, great on a tanky set. Collector's Cloak does the reverse, so it pairs naturally with boots if you'd rather run than tank.
Custom Looks & Never Resetting #
Like your pickaxe and sword, your armor is a permanent item. No reset ever takes it away: not Seconds, not Chrono Dust, not a Time Leap, not the Intelligence Generator, and not an Era reset. Because armor tiers gate on your best-ever Time Leap tier (which only ratchets upward), your set keeps protecting you no matter what you reset.
Want a different look without losing any stats? The Custom Armor option lets you re-skin your equipped armor with any material, dye, trim, and glint while keeping its rolled Defense. For the full rundown of how Defense 🟠 reduces incoming damage, see the Stats catalog.
