Relics & the Relic Smith

Relics attach to a single piece of gear and amplify that gear's own boost. Take a relic and a matching piece of gear to the Relic Smith in the Iron Mine, wait out the apply timer, and your pickaxe, sword, or armor comes out stronger, permanently.

What Relics Do #

A relic isn't worn on its own. It's fused into a piece of gear and boosts that gear's own contribution to a stat. A sword relic scales the sword's Damage 🗡, an armor relic scales a piece's Defense 🟠, and a pickaxe relic scales its Mining Speed ⛏. Every relic goes on the matching gear category and nothing else.

Each relic's exact strength is rolled once when it's created and kept forever, so two copies of the same relic can land on different values, so it's worth hunting for a high roll. Each relic type has a rarity from Uncommon up to Rare.

🔒
A relic scales the gear's own boost, not your total stat. A percent relic multiplies that gear piece's additive contribution, and a flat relic adds on top of it, so the same relic is worth more on a stronger piece of gear.
🔒
Relics never reset. Like every item in Timelords, a relic, and the gear it's applied to, survives every reset: Seconds, Chrono Dust, Time Leap, the Intelligence Generator, and Era resets. What you fuse stays fused.

The Relics #

There are seven relics, split across the three gear categories. Most drop from custom mobs or come from an NPC; the exact boost you get rolls within the range shown.

RelicSlotBoostRaritySource
Haste Trinket Pickaxe +5–50% Mining Speed ⛏ Uncommon Rare mining drop (1 / 10,000)
Pickaxe Trinket Pickaxe +2–10% passive activation chance Rare Gemstone Guardian
Fang Sword +5–20% Damage 🗡 Uncommon Cave Crawler
Steel Frame Sword +Damage 🗡 & +Crit 💥 Rare Diamond Smith
Zombie Skin Armor +5–10% Defense 🟠 Uncommon Undead Miner
Guardian Armor Armor +35–65% Defense 🟠, −Move Speed Rare Gemstone Guardian
Collector's Cloak Armor +Move Speed, −Defense 🟠 Rare Collector quest
The Guardian Armor and Collector's Cloak are trade-offs. One buys big Defense 🟠 at the cost of Move Speed, the other does the reverse. Pick the piece to match how you want that armor to play, and raise your Loot Luck ⭐ to improve your odds on the rarer relic drops.

The Relic Smith #

The Relic Smith lives in the Iron Mine and is where every relic gets applied. Open it, drop a relic in one input slot and the gear you want it on in the other, and the anvil between them tells you whether the two are compatible. When they match, click the anvil to start.

Apply
Left-click the anvil to begin. The relic is consumed and the gear is locked inside the smith while a timer runs. It survives logout and can't be used until it's done. A progress bar fills as the timer counts down.
Claim
Once the timer finishes, click the anvil to claim your gear with its new relic fused in.
Cancel
Change your mind mid-apply? Click to cancel and both the gear and the relic come straight back to you.
Remove
Put a relic-bearing piece of gear in the slot and right-click the anvil to strip the relic off. You get the gear (now empty) and the relic back. Nothing is destroyed, so you can move a relic to a better piece later.

Only one relic can be applied at a time, and a piece of gear holds one relic at once, so you can't overwrite an occupied relic slot without removing the old one first.

Apply Times #

Applying a relic takes real time, and the stronger the relic, the longer the wait. The gear stays locked in the smith for the whole duration, so plan around it and go do something else in the meantime.

RelicSlotApply Time
Zombie SkinArmor30 seconds
FangSword3 minutes
Steel FrameSword3 minutes
Guardian ArmorArmor5 minutes
Collector's CloakArmor5 minutes
Pickaxe TrinketPickaxe10 minutes
Haste TrinketPickaxe30 minutes
The timer keeps running while you're away, and the gear is held safely in the smith, so kick off a long apply like the Haste Trinket before you log off and claim it next session.

Tips #

  • Because a relic scales the gear's own boost, save your best-rolled relics for your best gear. The same Fang is worth far more on a Carnage Cleaver than on an early Bronze sword.
  • Relics come off cleanly, so don't be afraid to apply one early. When you upgrade the gear, just remove the relic and move it over.
  • Upgrading a piece of gear to its next tier already carries over any applied relic, so you rarely need to remove and re-apply just to climb a gear ladder.
  • A high roll matters: an Haste Trinket can land anywhere from +5% ⛏ to +50% Mining Speed ⛏, so re-roll for a good one before committing the 30-minute apply.
  • Everything here is permanent. Relics and the gear they're on are never lost to any reset, so a relic you fuse today keeps paying off through every Time Leap and Era.
