How Potions Work #
Every potion carries a rarity and, when drunk, applies a matching player effect for a set duration. Right-click a bottle in your hand to drink it, which consumes one from the stack and starts (or extends) the effect. Track what's currently ticking down with your active effects at any time.
The Alchemist #
The Alchemist is an NPC in The Origin. Talk to them to open the brewing shop, where each potion is bought with Flesh and components dropped by custom mobs. The higher-tier brews also cost lower potions as ingredients, so the shop doubles as an upgrade path: turn a stack of Strength Potions into a Rampage Potion, or Gatherer Potions into a Fortune Potion.
| Potion | Rarity | Brewed from |
|---|---|---|
| Potion of Strength | Rare | 1,000 Flesh |
| Rampage Potion | Epic | 2× Potion of Strength + 1 Undead Core + 500 Flesh |
| Gatherer Potion | Epic | 2 Undead Core + 8 Chronite |
| Fortune Potion | Epic | 3× Gatherer Potion + 2 Gemstone Core + 64 Chronite |
Undead Core drops from the Undead Miner in the Iron Mine; Gemstone Core drops from the Gemstone Guardian in the Diamond Mine; Chronite is mined in the Diamond Mine. The Arcane Potion below isn't on the Alchemist's brewing menu. It comes from elsewhere in the world.
Every Potion & Its Effect #
Five potions, each granting a different timed effect. Values below are the base brew:
| Potion | Effect | Duration | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arcane Potion | Arcane Blessing: Intelligence is +10% more effective at boosting your resource generation | 15 min | Rare |
| Potion of Strength | Potion of Strength: +5 🗡 | 10 min | Rare |
| Rampage Potion | Rampage: +0.5% 🗡 per mob you kill, up to +200% 🗡 | 20 min | Epic |
| Gatherer Potion | Gatherer: ×1.25 to all resource fortunes | 15 min | Epic |
| Fortune Potion | Fortune: ×1.35 to all resource fortunes plus +10 ⭐ Loot Luck | 20 min | Epic |
Some stronger versions of these potions can exist (a "Potion of Strength II", for example, applies the effect at a higher strength). Each strength is its own item: a stronger bottle can't pay the shop cost of the base one, and drinking it while the base effect is active upgrades you instead of stacking.
Which to Drink, and When #
Effects are timed, so the trick is to line a potion up with the activity it helps. Don't drink one and then wander off.
Potions are one layer of a much larger boost stack. See also
