Chronite

A shard of raw temporal energy that drops while you mine. Right-click it to build Mining Speed ⛏ through the Chronite Rush effect, or hand it to merchants as a trade good for higher-tier potions.

Overview #

Chronite is a Rare shard of temporal energy crystallized in the rock. It isn't an ore you break for. Instead it has a small chance to drop whenever you break any block, anywhere in the mines. It has two uses: right-click it to fuel the Chronite Rush effect for a stacking Mining Speed ⛏ boost, or spend it as a trade good in a couple of the higher-tier potion recipes.

How you get it
A 1 in 75 chance to drop from breaking any block while hand-mining.

Adds 30 seconds of Chronite Rush (see below).
📜
Chronite is a normal item, so it's never lost to any reset. It stays in your inventory through Seconds, Chrono Dust, Time Leap, Intelligence and Era resets, just like every other item you own.

How to get it #

You don't buy or refine Chronite. You find it. Every block you break by hand has a flat 1 in 75 chance to drop a single shard, which pops out of the block and can be picked up. The chance is the same for a lump of Coal as it is for a Diamonds block, so you'll gather Chronite steadily no matter which mine you're grinding.

🔌
Only hand-mining rolls for Chronite. Blocks broken by an ability (like a pickaxe's Mining Surge) or cleared by Tectonic drills don't drop shards, so keep swinging manually if you want to farm it.

Because the roll is per block, anything that lets you break more blocks faster (a better pickaxe, more Mining Speed ⛏, or the Miner's Grace passive tearing through richer tiers) also nets you more Chronite over time.

Chronite Rush #

Right-click a Chronite shard to activate (or extend) the Chronite Rush effect. Each shard adds 30 seconds of duration, and the boost scales with the time you have left rather than a fixed amplifier:

WhatValue
Duration per shard+30 seconds
Duration cap50 minutes
Boost per 30s remaining+1% ⛏
Maximum boost (at full duration)+100% ⛏

So every full stack you burn stretches the timer toward the 50-minute cap, and the closer you are to the cap the stronger the Mining Speed ⛏ bonus, up to +100% ⛏ at the top. As the timer ticks down, the boost slowly fades with it, so feeding in more shards keeps you riding high.

💡
Once Chronite Rush is already at the 50-minute cap, right-clicking another shard does nothing and won't be consumed, so you never waste one. Save the extras for potions instead. Check your active timer any time with /effects.

Trading Chronite #

Beyond the mining boost, Chronite is a trade good the Alchemist asks for in the two best potion recipes. Hold onto a reserve if you're chasing those brews:

PotionChronite neededEffect
Gatherer Potion 8 ×1.25 all resource fortunes for 15 minutes
Fortune Potion 64 ×1.35 all resource fortunes + Loot Luck ⭐ for 20 minutes

That makes Chronite a small balancing act: burn it for an immediate Mining Speed ⛏ spike, or bank it toward a fortune-boosting brew that pays off across every resource.

Tips #

  • Burn a full stack before a big session. Feed in shards until the timer is near the 50-minute cap, then mine hard while Chronite Rush ⛏ is at or near +100% ⛏.
  • Don't over-feed. The effect refuses shards once it's capped, so top up rather than dumping your whole inventory at once, since leftovers are worth more as potion ingredients.
  • Stack it with other Mining Speed boosts. Chronite Rush layers on top of your pickaxe, the Haste upgrade, and the Mining Surge ability for a serious dig-speed spike.
  • It comes free. Since it drops from any block, you passively build a Chronite reserve just by playing, so check your inventory for a stockpile before you start brewing.
