Coal, Bronze & Iron

Your first three ores, the backbone of the mining chain. You unlock their mines in order by climbing Time Leap tiers, and each one buys the gear you'll carry deep into the game.

Overview #

Coal, Bronze and Iron are the three starter ores. Each has its own mine you travel to and its own gear shop that sells pickaxes, swords and armor paid for in that ore. To mine one, hold the right pickaxe and left-click the ore. Your Mining Speed ⛏ drains the block's health until it breaks and banks the ore into your balance. For the full mining basics, see the Mining overview.

Coal Coal Mine (in The Origin) Time Leap 2: Explorer XP, Ticks, Chrono Dust
Bronze Bronze Mine (in The Origin) Time Leap 4: Miner Moments, Coal
Iron Iron Mine (an area you travel to) Time Leap 5: Caveman Seconds, Bronze, Coal

The Coal and Bronze Mines sit inside The Origin. The Iron Mine is a distinct region you walk to, still part of the same seamless world, just a different area with its own mobs and its first sword shop.

The Boost Chain #

The three ores form a one-way chain that flows downhill: your higher ores boost the Fortune of your lower ores, but never the other way around. Stacking up your Iron balance quietly makes all your earlier mining faster to earn.

Iron
Boosts both Bronze and Coal Fortune.
Bronze
Boosts Coal Fortune.
Coal
Sits at the bottom. It feeds nothing back up to Bronze or Iron.

Each ore also loops outward into an earlier resource, so mining never stops being useful: Coal feeds XP, Ticks and Chrono Dust; Bronze feeds Moments; and Iron feeds Seconds. All three also run a two-way loop with Strength: ore boosts Strength and Strength boosts ore.

On top of that, every ore's Fortune is multiplied by your Time Leap tier (a bigger multiplier the higher you climb), by Chrono Dust, and by runes from the Fracture Pack.

💡
Because the chain runs downhill, the fastest way to pump your Coal income late-game isn't to grind Coal, it's to grow your Bronze and especially your Iron.

Ore Blocks & Tiers #

Each of the three ores comes in two mineable forms. Ordinary ore banks your base Fortune; the richer Block form is worth ×5 the ore in a single break (it also has more health, so it takes longer to crack).

FormYield
Coal / Bronze / Iron Ore×1 (base Fortune)
Coal / Bronze / Iron Block×5

The Miner's Grace passive can also upgrade an ordinary ore into its Block form the moment you break it, a free ×5 payout. (Only Diamonds go a step further, with a Compressed Block worth ×25.)

Gear Shops #

Each mine has a gear hub that sells the tools you pay for in that ore. Your very first pickaxe (a Wooden one) is bought from the Miner for 100 Seconds when you first reach the Coal Mine. From there, each shop sells the next tiers up the ladder.

Coal Mine
Sells Coal pickaxes (I–V), Leather armor (three tiers), and the single Coal accessory (×2 Coal ⭐).
Bronze Mine
Sells Bronze pickaxes (I–VI) and Bronze armor. This is also where you roll the Fracture Pack of runes.
Iron Mine
The first shop to sell swords, along with Iron pickaxes (I–VI) and Iron armor. It's also home to the Undead Miner and the Relic Smith.

Pickaxes decide which ores you can break at all, and each carries its own Mining Speed ⛏. Armor provides Defense 🟠 (boots add Move Speed), and swords provide Damage 🗡, useful the moment mobs appear in the Iron Mine.

Resets & Tips #

Your ore balances are safe. Coal, Bronze and Iron are never wiped by any reset: not by Seconds, not by Chrono Dust, and not even by a Time Leap, which resets your Origin resources but leaves your ores, Strength, Intelligence, Flesh and all your items untouched. The only thing that clears ores is the Intelligence Generator at Skyspire, and an Era reset (triggered only by choosing or changing an Alignment).

Because ores survive Time Leaps while your Ticks and Moments don't, they become a quiet, permanent power base. Leaping resets your clicking resources, but your mined ore stays and keeps boosting everything.
  • Chase the top of the chain: growing Iron compounds down into Bronze and Coal for free.
  • Grab the Coal accessory early for a flat ×2 Coal ⭐ that never resets.
  • Keep an eye out for Chronite, which drops from breaking any block and grants a big Mining Speed ⛏ burst to mine faster.
  • Once you reach the Diamond Mine, ore stops being your main gear currency (Pure Diamonds take over), but Coal remains a key ingredient in the Diamond Forge.
