⚖ Era Alignments

Era Alignments

Once you reach the Stone Age you pledge to one of the four Timelords in the Era Chamber. Each Alignment reshapes your whole late game with randomly rolled boosts, a signature passive, an exclusive area, and its own trade goods.

Overview #

Reaching the Stone Age opens the Era Chamber, an area where four Timelord NPCs each offer you a path. Aligning with one grants a bundle of randomly rolled boosts, a unique mechanic, access to an exclusive area, and (for three of the four) trades for signature gear. You can only hold one Alignment at a time.

Each Alignment specializes in a different part of the game:

🌬 Genesis

Origin & foundation. Accelerates Ticks, Moments, and Seconds. Opens the Genesis Caves and a token-fueled upgrade tree. Available at the Stone Age.

Growth & refinement. Sharpens Intelligence, Strength, and Seconds. Opens the Arcane Trials shop and the Ascension Feather. Requires the Bronze Age.

Depth & excavation. Boosts your ores and Mining Speed ⛏. Opens automated Drills and the Deep Breaker. Requires the Bronze Age.

Destruction & warfare. Rolls Damage 🗡, Defense 🗰, and Flesh. Opens the Volcano and the Carnage Cleaver. Requires the Bronze Age.

🔒
Only Genesis is available the moment you reach the Stone Age. Ascension, Tectonic, and Carnage all require you to push on to the Bronze Age before you can align with them.

Choosing & Resetting #

You commit to an Alignment through its Timelord in the Era Chamber (or via /era). A normal Era tier-up is a pure upgrade and resets nothing, but choosing or changing an Alignment triggers a full Era reset.

Aligning (or re-aligning) wipes your resources, your pre-Era unlocks, and lowers your current Time Leap tier. Choose deliberately, since you hold only one Alignment at a time, and switching means paying that reset again.
💡
Your best-ever Time Leap tier never drops. Because that all-time tier is what gates your gear and artifacts, your pickaxes, swords, armor, and other items keep working even though the reset lowered your current tier. Items are never lost to any reset. Aligning keeps every pickaxe, sword, armor piece, relic, artifact, accessory, charm, rune, and potion you own.

Because the boosts are rolled fresh each time you align, re-aligning also re-rolls your boost values from your current Potential. A higher Potential the second time can mean a much stronger Alignment.

Potential #

The strength of your rolled boosts scales with your Potential, a score from 0 to 10 that each Timelord measures differently based on how far you've come in their specialty. Every Alignment reads two progress tracks: one built from a resource you can reset and rebuild, and one from a permanent lifetime counter that never goes down.

Each track has a ladder of thresholds. Every threshold you pass grants +1 Potential, and each track tops out at its threshold count, so two tracks worth five points each cap you at 10. Pass more thresholds before you align to roll stronger boosts.

AlignmentResettable trackPermanent track
Genesis Ticks held Lifetime Seconds resets
Ascension Intelligence held Lifetime Intelligence resets
Tectonic Coal held Lifetime blocks mined
Carnage Flesh held Lifetime mobs killed
Carnage can push past the normal cap: holding a Bloodsworn Offering when you align adds a flat +1 Potential on top of both tracks. The offering is consumed the moment you commit to Carnage.

The Four Paths #

A quick reference to what each Alignment rolls, unlocks, and trades. Every value here is a random roll that grows with your Potential and, for the boosts marked below, with your current Era tier. Follow each name to its full page.

Genesis: the early-game specialist

Genesis rolls big multipliers and exponents onto your Origin resources (Ticks, Moments, Seconds) and your XP, and grants the Temporal Amplifier and Clockworker passives.

  • Opens the Genesis Caves, an area only Genesis players can enter.
  • Genesis Tokens from the Genesis Captive's quests buy permanent Origin-resource upgrades.
  • Available at the Stone Age.

Ascension: the mid-game specialist

Ascension rolls Strength, Intelligence Generation, and huge Seconds multipliers, and can grant the powerful Chrono Dust Keeper and Mastermind passives.

Tectonic: the mining specialist

Tectonic rolls ore multipliers (Iron, Bronze, Coal, and a chance at Diamonds) plus Mining Speed ⛏, and grants the Fault Line passive, a chance to shatter every ore in an expanding radius as you mine.

  • Opens the Drill Mechanic's Shop and lets you place automated Drills that mine for you, even offline.
  • The only Alignment that can obtain the Tectonic Heart.
  • Trades for the Deep Breaker pickaxe for 10,000 Pure Diamonds + 1 Tectonic Heart.
  • Requires the Bronze Age.

Carnage: the combat specialist

Carnage rolls Damage 🗡, Defense 🗰, Flesh, and Loot Luck ⭐, and grants the Barbarian passive (a chance on kill to trigger the escalating Frenzy effect).

  • Opens the Volcano and its lava pools.
  • Trades for the Carnage Cleaver sword for 25,000 Flesh + 1,000 Pure Diamonds + 10 Rusted Gear.
  • Requires the Bronze Age.

Tips #

💡
Build up your Potential tracks before you commit. Since aligning re-rolls your boosts from your current Potential, a few extra thresholds passed first can dramatically improve every value you lock in.
Match the Alignment to what you actually want to do next. Genesis rockets your Origin resources; Ascension leans into Intelligence and Strength; Tectonic is built for mining and Drills; Carnage is for combat-focused players.
