The Volcano & Lava Fishing

The Volcano is the molten heart of the Carnage path, a set of blistering lava pools that pour out enormous amounts of Strength and hide a mechanic found nowhere else on the server: lava fishing.

Overview #

The Volcano is the lava-pool complex high in the Strength area, reserved for players aligned with Carnage. Where the ordinary Strength rocks and the Fire Pit are open to everyone, the three Volcano pools (Cooled, Molten and Toxic) are the strongest Strength sources in the game, and only a Carnage player can stand in them.

Like every Strength pool, you gain Strength simply by standing in the lava, no clicking required. What makes the Volcano special is that each pool multiplies your gains by an astronomical amount, and that a hostile lava fish may surface and hunt you while you soak. Reel it in and it pays out big; let it reach you and it burns.

🌍
The Volcano isn't a separate world. It's an area you climb to within the Strength region, above the ordinary rocks and the Fire Pit. If you haven't unlocked Strength yet, start on the Strength & The Peak page.

The Three Pools #

Each pool applies a fixed multiplier to the Strength you generate, but it will only accept you once your Strength meets its requirement. Stand in a pool while you're too weak and it burns you instead. The higher-tier pools are lethal until you measure up. Meet the requirement and the flames turn purely cosmetic.

PoolMultiplierStrength Required
Carnage Cooled Lava Pool×5,0001 Sp
Carnage Molten Lava Pool×100,0001 UDe
Carnage Toxic Lava Pool×100,000,000100 QiDe

Those multipliers stack on top of everything else feeding your Strength (ore boosts, Time Leap tiers, alignment rolls and more), so the Toxic pool is where late-game Carnage players build the towering Strength totals that loop back into their ores and Damage πŸ—‘.

🔥
A pool burns you whenever your Strength is below its requirement, and the top pools will kill you outright. Work up through Cooled → Molten → Toxic in order rather than jumping straight to the hottest lava.

Lava Fishing #

While you stand in a qualifying Volcano pool, a lava fish occasionally bubbles up a short distance away and weaves toward you. It's a race: catch it before it reaches you and you collect a reward; let it close the gap and it strikes.

How to catch it
When the fish surfaces, click it. Either left-click or right-click works. A successful catch rolls the reward table below and the fish vanishes in a burst of happy particles.
Only one at a time
Only a single lava fish hunts you at once, and it belongs to you, so other players can't steal your catch. If you leave the pool (or die) the fish simply despawns.
If it reaches you
It hits for 400 ❀ of damage and sets you ablaze for 8 seconds. That burn isn't cosmetic: it deals 5% of your max health every second while it lasts, and it keeps burning even inside the pool, so don't let the fish land.

Reward table

CatchOddsReward
A haul of Strength62.5%A big instant Strength payout, scaled by the pool you caught it in
Potion of Strength31.25%+5 πŸ—‘ Damage for 10 minutes
Rampage Potion6.25%Grants Rampage πŸ—‘: +0.5% πŸ—‘ Damage per kill, up to +200% πŸ—‘, for 20 minutes

Because the biggest catch is scaled by the pool, lava fishing rewards climbing to the hotter pools just as much as passive soaking does. A single haul in the Toxic pool dwarfs anything the Cooled pool can pay out. The two potion catches are the same items sold by the Alchemist, so the fish is a free source of them on the side. See the Potions page for the full brew list, and Effects for how Rampage escalates.

💡
The fish weaves side to side as it approaches, so aim a little ahead of it rather than at where it currently is. It spawns a few blocks out and gives you plenty of time, so there's no penalty for swinging early.

Unlocking the Volcano #

The Volcano pools are a Carnage feature, so two things gate access:

  • You must first unlock Strength, which opens at The Peak (Time Leap Peakbound). See the Strength page for that journey.
  • You must be aligned with Carnage, chosen when you tier up your Era. Carnage unlocks at the Bronze Age and focuses on Damage, Defense, Flesh and Loot Luck. The Volcano and the Carnage Cleaver are two of its signature rewards.
🔥
Where others punch stone for scraps of power, the Carnage-aligned bathe in fire and come out stronger. The lava remembers who can stand it.

None of this is lost to a reset: your Strength survives a Time Leap, and every pickaxe, sword, potion and other item you own is kept through every reset. Only changing your alignment triggers a full Era reset, and even then your items and best-ever Time Leap tier stay with you.
